What did the experts say about the new AI Safety Agreement?
UK Tech Minister, Michelle Donelan, said: “The defining technology challenge (AI) of our generation.
“We have always been clear that ensuring the safe development of AI is a shared global issue.”
The agreement came after an AI event that was attended by top AI bosses, which included OpenAI’s Sam Altman, Google DeepMind’s Demis Hassabis, and tech billionaire Elon Musk.
This event led to both the UK and US creating an AI Safety Institute which aims to evaluate open and closed-source AI systems.
She continues: “Only by working together can we address the technology’s (AI) risks head-on and harness its enormous potential to help us all live easier and healthier lives.”
